IICA Technical Nights

IICA Technical Nights are run Australia-wide in capital cities and regional areas providing a technical presentation and networking opportunity in a friendly, relaxed environment over a drink or nibbly with other members and guests.

Is there a cost to attend a Technical Night?
Entry is free for members. A small charge may apply to non-members.

When are the Technical Nights held?

Technical Nights are held mid-week. These events generally start at 6.00pm in the evening and formally conclude at approximately 8.00pm. More often than not we find our guests and presenters are still deep in conversation well after the event has formally concluded.

Due to the location of these events we do suggest allowing an extra 15mins to find suitable parking.

Are Technical Nights a very formal occasion?

No, like many IICA events, a Technical Night is a low fuss and enjoyable way to network and expand your knowledge amongst peers. The night includes a special topic presentation, followed by networking, along with casual drinks and nibbles.

Some of the topics in the past have included;

  • Model Based Control: Let software & maths get even more out of your plant
  • Moisture Measurement: Demystify the problems associated with moisture
  • Testing Software: Looking for things you don’t want to find
  • Back to Basics: Develop a better understanding of measurement techniques
  • Beyond Alarms: Securing the Operating Envelope
  • Harmonics: What’s all the fuss about
  • Cyber security: How do you keep you network safe
  • Calibration: What? Why? When? By whom?

Before and after the presentation, you will be able to network with other like minded individuals or discuss the topic of the night with the presenter or possibly find someone to assist you with any challenges you are currently facing in a friendly, relaxed environment.

@ Home Visits

The IICA “@ Home Visits” are run Australia-wide in capital cities and the occasional regional area. These are on site visits and provide our community with an opportunity to visit a variety of companies to experience and learn more about what others are doing in the world of instrumentation, control and automation.

The types of visits vary. Below is an example from past visits.

  • Service Providers:
come and see how your instruments are calibrated
see how an integration company creates your new control system
  • Green Field Sites:
Visit the new Desalination plant – see how it works
  • Brown Field Sites:
Learn how a company has up-graded their control system with minimal down time.

Partner Events

The IICA continually looks for ways to assist our members and the wider instrumentation, control and automation Industry. We will at times partner with other companies, associations and educational institutions to promote 3rd party events that could benefit the industry. Please note that these events are not hosted by the IICA and we do not take responsibility for the content or experience delivered.
