Greenfern - Advanced Process Control

Greenfern Dynamics will present a range of cases studies to show how Advanced Process Control can be applied to the processing industries to improve Energy Efficiency.
The presentation starts with an overview of APC and how it fits into the current Digitalisation theme that is transforming industry.

A range of case studies are briefly described including:

  • Online Optimisation of a Hot Oil Utility system that delivered an energy saving of ~ 10%
  • Automated Optimisation of an Integrated Steam and Electricity Generation system that reduced operator intervention by 75%
  • Examples of Gas Turbine Fleet Optimisation including a power generation example that delivered a payback of < 3 months
  • An example of how some advanced loop tuning techniques has helped a Pumped Hydro operator more effectively capture market opportunities.

 

Meet our Speaker – Andrew Taylor


Andrew Taylor is a Process Control Engineer with over 30 years of experience in a range of Advanced Process Control (APC) and Optimisation technologies deployed in a range of hydrocarbon and mineral related processes.

Some of these include Gas processing, LNG production, oil refining, chemicals and alumina refining. Andrew has been involved in the development, implementation and maintenance of over a hundred APC applications in Australia and overseas. He enjoys the challenge of solving customer problems and meeting their business needs, with emphasis on operator friendly design, exceptional robustness and process performance. Andrew holds an Engineering Science degree from the University of Auckland and is a Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia.
